Immediately, my palms dampen. I become exceedingly aware that there isn’t much space between us. I can smell her coconut scented shampoo. Quickly, I divert my attention to the rug beneath my feet. Don’t think about kissing. Don’t think about mouths. Don’t think about lips. Out of nowhere, an unsolicited image of Blake’s plump, shimmering lips flashes through my head. Not helping! What the fuck is happening to me? Okay. Focus. I inhale and shift my gaze to meet Ava’s watchful eyes. “Kissing a girl,” I start as I rub my palms on the knees of my cargo pants. “It feels…awesome.”

Ava frowns. “Hayden, please.”

I nod. “Alright. But remember, I can only speak from my experience.”

“I know.”

I swallow. “Okay. It’s soft. Women are soft. Their lips are soft. Their skin is soft. It’s just an amazing feeling.”

Ava’s eyes are wide. She bites her bottom lip and smiles shyly. “That does sound awesome.”

“It is.”

Ava’s smile dissolves. “And sexy.”

A drop of perspiration trickles along my hairline. “Uh huh.”

I stop breathing altogether when Ava places her left hand on my right cheek and inches closer. What is she doing? Before I can protest even half-heartedly, Ava’s lips brush over mine. A chill runs across my entire body. I close my eyes and she kisses me again. Everything comes to a standstill. Everything is spinning. I kiss her back.
